Day 15

Poor little Luciana is having a rough time lately. She sucked her thumb so much in the womb that she had blisters on both her thumbs and her lips. The thumb blisters popped recently and look terrible. We've been forced to put her boxing gloves back on her. And, she's also peeling, which we have been assured happens to many newborns. Put, it makes her look pretty bad, so no closeups for a few days.

Wednesday is a big day for all of us. Lauren will stay at home with the baby and Kai will go to work. Wish Lauren luck. Grandpa Joseph may be at our house in the afternoon. But, after flying in from California on the red eye flight, he'll probably be pretty worthless.

Auntie Heather, Cousin Emersyn, and baby Luciana. Emersyn seemed confused to find a human smaller than her. The best was when we all went to the pool and Emersyn reached out gingerly and touched Luciana's foot, like she wasn't sure if it was going to feel nasty or not. Then, Eme put a shoe in her mouth. Maybe she was hoping for nasty.

Luciana made her first trip out to Jonas' land, where she learned all about tractoring. Uncle Jonas didn't get a tractor with baby seat tie downs, so she had to be held in place with one hand. Relax, the photo is staged. Dad is wiping his brow because it's just plain hot, not because he was driving the tractor.


It was hot yesterday, very hot.

Since she still likes to 1) suck her poor thumbs and 2) scratch her poor face, we are making use of these little stuffed toy noisemakers Tami gave us. They give her something to hold on to and make a nice cushion between her claws and her face.
