Video Killed a Radio Star?

Typical Sunday morning antics at the Monast household

Egg-Citing Times

Taking a break from blogging about our vacay, here are some photos from this past weekend where we prepped for Easter by dyeing Easter eggs, participating in Woodcroft club's Easter egg hunt (with special guest, Ashley - Luci's good friend from school and our neighbor - Ruby and I did not attend the Easter egg hunt - we were busy checking out a Gymboree music class), and making Easter crafts.

Day 2 - Orlando

Excerpt lifted directly from Kai's letter to the girls:

10 am Sunday, March 4- we drive to Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Mimi and Poppy are already there, waiting for us. Ruby falls asleep as we arrive, so Daddy and Poppy hang out in the car to let you sleep. We try to go to the grocery store, but you wake up when the car starts and get real mad when Daddy gets out, leaving you with Poppy while I try to find Mimi and Mommy. Ruby then stays with Mimi, Mommy, and Luciana while Poppy and I get groceries. Our room isn’t ready yet, so you hang out in the public areas of the beautiful resort. They get our room ready as Poppy and I return. It is a wonderful villa with two bedrooms and a huge living room with a lovely balcony overlooking a lake and golf course. When everything is unloaded, Ruby, Mimi, and Daddy go for a walk around the resort  (while Mommy and Luci visit with Mommy's good friend Irene who she hasn't seen in 4 years and who now lives near Orlando). We explore every nook and cranny and realize that we have the best location of all in the resort. That night, we have to take a bus to Downtown Disney because it is too cold and windy for the boat to take us. We walk around and eat dinner, then wait a long time for the bus to take us home. We’re afraid that all of the busses will be like this, but they definitely were not! They were so easy after this first experience. Luciana sleeps in her own bed in Mimi and Poppy’s room and Ruby sleeps in a hallway with doors at both ends, next to the washer/dryer in a port-a-crib. Ruby, you slept so well in this leftover space- thankfully. It really helped all of us that you had your own room. We didn’t think it would work, but it worked wonderfully.

Vacation - Day 1 - Jacksonville Beach

Kai has been writing the girls a letter about our vacation - I'm using excerpts from his letter with some added commentary from me to caption the blog posts.....

6 am Saturday, March 3- we leave Durham (after a minor freak out that we hadn't packed our Disney park tickets) and drive to Jacksonville, Florida. The drive down went better than we hoped.  When we had mentioned to folks that we were driving to Florida, their inevitable reaction was 'well as long as you have a DVD player..." well we didn't have a DVD player and after the 5th or so person mentioned this to us as a most necessary object to have to ensure a peaceful drive, we went ahead and bought one - with two screens - and lo and behold, Luci, you were mesmerized on the drive down as you watched Tinkerbell and Curious George.  Ruby, you didn't really care, but you were still very good, and I'm sure you will appreciate it on future car trips.  The beautiful hotel pool was closed for maintenance, but that didn’t matter because it was cold and VERY windy. We spent 30 minutes or so on the beach having fun and getting filthy, then gave you girls a long bath and went to dinner. When we got back, you built a cave between the beds in the hotel room and you two had the best time playing in it. You both slept beautifully. We all went to bed by 8:15! Daddy gets up at 6 am. Luciana gets up next and we both go to the beach for a bit. Then, we eat breakfast alongside the women’s soccer team from Auburn. We go back to the room and get Mommy and Ruby and eat again. Luciana loves the waffles and blueberry muffins. We go back to the beach for a bit and then head out to Orlando.

so much to catch up on....

the past 2 months have been a total blur - I felt like we were all stuck in a revolving door of sickness with each of the girls rotating colds, ear infections and general yucky-ness   thankfully everyone was healthy for our 1st family vacation - to Disney World, book-ended with stops at Jacksonville Beach and Savannah.  i will have to dedicate a blog post per day of our trip since we packed so much in.  but for now here are a few photos from january (mostly featuring our excursion to the wonderful Asheboro zoo) and february (mostly featuring how silly both our little gals are)....
