G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S

As part of the annual birthday tradition, we took Looch to get some pictures taken. She was not into it at all at first (which was the complete opposite of the 'ham' we dealt with last year), but eventually warmed up to the idea. Even though I think these pictures are cute, nothing compares to how amazingly awesome this little girl can be in person. Happy 3rd Birthday Luci!

another year older, another year wiser?

The Looch is 3! Officially a "Big Girl".
Here are photos of her opening some presents on her birthday:

Washington DC

on a recent weekend trip to our nation's capital, we visited some great friends - Luke, Toolsi & the adorable Kavi, Neal, Meetal & sweet Maliya and Scott & Jules. we spent time exploring the National Museum of Natural History, relaxing at the rooftop pool at Scott's place, and catching up with our dear friends who we don't see enough of! Looch really enjoyed playing with Kavi and Maliya - she is showing signs of being a fabulous big sister :)

Horse Play

We spent a weekend in Fort Mill, SC to visit our good friends Julie and Dave and their awesome doggies, cats and horses!
On Saturday, we took the light rail (which was an adventure in itself) into Charlotte to the Discovery Place, a really neat hands-on science museum, that Luci loved. Then we had a nice dinner downtown and headed back to the house for an overly competitive cornhole tournament.
Sunday morning Luci and Kai got to ride the horses, Country and Senator (I sat on Country for a few seconds, which I think was enough for the both of us, considering A) I'm slightly afraid of horses and B) i am in my 3rd trimester). Luci really liked riding when it was slow-paced, but once it got a little faster, I think she got scared and she declared it 'too bumpy'. The experience left a big impression on her and since our visit she's been talking about going back to see the horses so she can pet them. Also, thanks to Julie, she now has lots of horse paraphernalia that she's been playing with, though she keeps saying she needs to give some of it back since Julie and Dave love horses.
On the way home from SC, we stopped at Mount Morrow State Park to eat lunch and then went on wild goose chase to see the Pisgah covered bridge (long story, but we made it).
