Sun, Sand & Surf

Last weekend we went to Wilmington and while we only stayed over 1 night, we crammed a lot of fun activities into 2 full days: a trip to the Fort Fisher Aquarium, 2 trips to Wrightsville Beach and an Easter Sunday jaunt to the lovely Airlie Gardens. We are looking forward to few more weekend trips to the beach this summer.

happy hunting

her expression when she 1st saw the Easter Bunny

the frenzy of the hunt

Looch participated in her 2nd Easter Egg Hunt (her 1st took place 1 day prior at her school) sponsored by our neighborhood association this weekend. She did very well for herself considering how quickly those toddlers can vacuum up some eggs. But she exhibited a love/hate relationship with the Easter Bunny. She was pretty much terrified of him whenever he tried to interact with her, but she HAD to follow him everywhere he went. And then as soon as he turned around to say hi, she would cower behind mommy or daddy.

Hairsteria (bye-bye mullet)

The Looch has been long overdue for her 1st haircut. She finally faced the scissors a couple of weeks ago. Before we left the house to go, she was very afraid and was refusing to go (she thought it was going to hurt), but once we got there, she was a trooper and seemed to enjoy it. I only intended for her to get a couple of inches taken off the back, but more like 4 inches came off and she ended up with bangs - but it's a pretty cute cut that shows off her adorable face much better than the mullet she was rocking previously.

Take Me to the Pilot

On Sunday, we took a trip over to Pilot Mountain for a short hike and then got our fill of kitsch over in Mount Airy - the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the inspiration for the fictional Mayberry. It was a very pretty day and we really enjoyed walking around in the sunshine. Luci is a great hiker (Mimi too!) - she loves scrambling over rocks and walking both up and down hills - she is pretty much fearless (which scares the heck out of me).

Another Spring Trip to The Gardens

Mimi was in town this weekend.
We visited the Botanical Gardens in Raleigh on Saturday. Luci had a wonderful time running all over the place & looking/smelling the pretty flowers. Lately she's been going to bed later and waking up earlier. I'm exhausted, but she seems to have more energy than ever before.
